Say what you will, but apparently it’s working. As we write this, more than 2.25 million people have eyed Coffee Mate’s “All Natural Cafe” full-length spot on YouTube. The cafe in question featured free coffee for the day, and nearly naked faux baristas and patrons done up in barely more than body paint. Oh, and Nestle’s new Coffee Mate Natural Bliss creamers.
Kudos to 360i the agency behind the project – and the scenes on this one for Nestle. Yes, that’s the same 360i that hit Super Bowl social media pay dirt for Oreo a few years back with their “Dunk in the Dark” tweet. Everyone’s still scrambling to make that lightning strike again – but we think the naked thing was far from a creative stretch. All natural = au natural? Don’t hurt yourself. Feels like someone took the express into work on this one.
We’d have much rather seen, perhaps, a take of the SNL Olympia Restaurant: “No artificial flavors… just milk, cream, and sugar!” Hey, we’re no prudes here, but you’ve got to go a full :50 into the video before you first see the product shot – for a whole two seconds. Sit tight, there’s another three seconds of Natural Bliss near the end of this 1:30 production.
But not all is lost. This video is huge fun for watching the fellas do all they can to maintain eye contact with the brunette barista and not drift to her… “smock”. AdWeek reports we can expect the digital-only campaign on YouTube, Facebook, etc., in the next few weeks. And with an intro line like, “anything butt”, we’re sure Mike Judge knows a couple of guys who could yuk it up with that one!”
